Bandajanas - The Story

Wie zijn wij?

The Story of Bandajanas starts in 2014 with the development of a simple red-white-blue slipper. This was (thanks to the success of the Netherlands at the World Cup) a a huge success.

Would it not be a good idea to be able to combine with your slippers endlessly for different occasions? Bandajanas was born!

The slipper concept where you can make a hundred slippers with a sole, multiple interchangeable straps and accessories.

For the Benelux, Germany, France, Spain, Italy and England, we applied for trademark registration on the design and had different samples made. After many tests, we chose a manufacturer that also produces slippers for Ralph Lauren and Guess, among others, very  important:  this company complies with all certificates that exclude child labor.

We have already infected many ladies with the Bandajanas virus. The slippers are sold in stores in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Spain and Portugal. We can also be found at various events, and, on request, we visit your event or shop. We even come at home to customers.

The company is led by Loes Snippe. She has been the proud owner of Bandajanas since November 2017 and does what she likes the most: converting creative ideas into beautiful designs! Every year we prepare our new collection based on  trends and the colors of the season.

Unfortunately we are also being copied. It is a compliment to be so popular, but we prefer to do business fairly.  In the meantime, we are just continuing to develop our concept, because we have already  proven to be good at this.

CSR

Our Bandajanas slipper is designed with great passion in the Netherlands and produced as sustainably as possible in China, Thailand, Bali and Europe. The employees work under good conditions for a normal wage. And there is a sharp check on child labor. We do not want to wear fancy slippers made by exploited people on bare feet.

In China, we work with a factory that practices a sustainable business. You can tell by the choice of materials and a good development program for employees.

We produce the fabric laces for the slippers in Europe from residual material from the textile industry. Our accessories are made by hand and with a lot of love by adults in Thailand and Indonesia.

In the Netherlands we often use social workshops to support us. For example, to cut the lace sets to size and to tie them onto the cards. The employees of these workshops have a nice challenging task. They feel very involved and are proud.

We ship as much as possible in boxes made from recycled cardboard. We are also investigating the options for recycling our slippery material in the future. That is still a dream for now, but we are happy to contribute to a cleaner world for our children and grandchildren.
